If you've written a book on a creative arts topic and would like to submit it to us for consideration, please read our submission guidelines on how to do this.
If you have a proposal for a book on some area of the creative arts, please complete our book proposal form and submit it to commissioning@laurenceking.com
If your proposal looks attractive, we will consider it in more detail and might come back to you to ask you make changes to it. If it is approved and a contract is signed, we will guide you as to how you prepare the manuscript. The contract will specify an agreed date on which you should deliver the final and complete manuscript. This date determines the book's publication date and the timing of the promotional work that will go into maximizing its sales.
When you deliver the final manuscript, it goes through the editorial and production process. This stage can take some time. Once the text has been edited and the production work (the design and layout of the text, the cover design, etc.) has been completed, we will send you page proofs, explaining how these have to be checked.
In the meantime we will have decided how many copies of your book we will print and what the selling price will be. Once we have received your corrected proofs and have incorporated the corrections, the book is then ready to be sent for printing. As part of your contract, we will send you advance copies of your book as soon as they come off the press.
