Modigliani exhibition at the Tate Modern

Explore rooms festooned with trinkets and treasures that evoke the lives of an imaginary Hugeunot family that are absent but still here in spirit. There will be candlelight, the smell of pomanders and the sounds of distant bells to put even the most Scrooge like in a festive mood.

Skate at Somerset House


The annual ice rink at Somerset House is a festive focal point that really brings people together. Set in London's most spectacular public courtyard, it's difficult not to feel a certain joy to be gliding around, muffled against the chilly night air admiring both the skillful and the happily inept as they take to the ice. There is always a great Christmas tree and warm ‘aprés skate’ drinks on hand.
